Clear answers before the first conversation.

Learn how Cove approaches tax planning, accounting, secure information exchange and new client relationships.

General

Who does Cove Accounting work with?

Cove works with business owners, families, individuals with complex tax situations, real estate investors and professionals who value proactive coordination.

Where is Cove Accounting located and who do you serve?

Cove Accounting has offices in New York City and Boca Raton, Florida, and serves clients across all 50 states through secure digital workflows. Our client base concentrates in business owners, real-estate investors and families with complex tax situations.

Is Cove Accounting a CPA firm?

No. Cove Accounting is not a CPA firm and does not provide attest services. Tax preparation is performed under IRS EFIN and PTIN authority. For services that require CPA sign-off, we coordinate with independent CPAs on a case-by-case basis.

Does Cove provide investment or legal advice?

Tax and accounting services do not replace legal counsel or investment advice. Cove can coordinate relevant information with your attorney, financial professional and other advisors with your permission.

Tax Prep

What is the difference between tax preparation and tax planning?

Tax preparation reports and files what already occurred. Tax planning evaluates choices before relevant deadlines so there is time to act when appropriate.

Is tax planning available throughout the year?

Yes. Cove offers year-round planning relationships when the client’s needs and the agreed scope call for ongoing projections, reviews and coordination.

Does Cove Accounting perform audits, reviews or attest services?

Cove Accounting is an IRS-authorized e-file provider with preparers who hold current federal preparer identification numbers. We do not perform audits, reviews or attest services. When an engagement requires those services, we coordinate with an appropriately qualified outside firm.

Bookkeeping

Do you provide bookkeeping and accounting together?

Yes. Cove can coordinate day-to-day bookkeeping with monthly reporting, tax preparation and planning so the same financial information supports each conversation.

What does business advisory include?

Business advisory can include entity-selection coordination, budgeting, forecasting, profitability review and decision support. The exact work is defined in the engagement agreement.

Payroll

Can you help with payroll?

Cove can help coordinate payroll setup, reporting, owner compensation questions and year-end review when those services are included in the engagement.

Working With Us

How is Cove Accounting different from Cove Financial?

Cove Accounting handles tax preparation, tax planning, bookkeeping, payroll and business advisory. Cove Financial is a separate company that provides financial planning and investment services. The two coordinate for shared clients under separate scopes.

What happens during the first conversation?

We discuss what is changing, what feels unclear and what you want to accomplish. If there is a potential fit, Cove will identify the information needed to define the next step and scope.

What should I send before a first meeting?

Start with a brief, non-sensitive description of your needs. Cove will tell you which records are useful after the scope is better understood.

How should I send tax documents and Social Security numbers?

Use the Cove client portal or another secure method approved by the firm. Do not send sensitive tax, identity or financial documents through ordinary email or chat.

Which technology does Cove use with clients?

Cove uses professional platforms including Canopy, Microsoft 365, QuickBooks Online, ProConnect Tax, Intuit Tax Advisor, Maximize My Social Security and ADP for different parts of the client experience.

Does sending a message create a client relationship?

No. A client relationship begins only after mutual acceptance and a signed engagement agreement defining the services and responsibilities.

How are fees determined?

Fees depend on complexity, scope, timing and the level of ongoing support. Cove discusses the proposed scope and fee structure before an engagement begins.
